One of the many headlines at CES 2016 was Dell’s announcement of new Latitude laptops and monitors. The laptops come as the standard refresh of the enterprise-intended laptops. The refresh of the product line included updates to the Latitude 3000, 5000, and 7000 series. The laptops were refreshed to include the latest 6th generation Intel processors. Several of the configurations are also available as a 2-in-1 configuration where the display can be removed from the keyboard to be used as a tablet separately.
The new notebooks include use of new materials like carbon fiber and incorporating the business-class InfinityEdge display, which uses a very thin bezel.
To adapt to the builds of the new laptops, Dell is also leaving the long-running E-series docking station. In its place, they are moving towards more of a port replicator approach. The new docking stations are available as USB Type-C or Thunderbolt connectors to plug into the laptops. This frees Dell to design laptops of newer dimensions than being restricted to old docking station compatible sizes.
In addition to the laptops, Dell also introduced a UltraSharp 30-inch OLED monitor as well as 23.8″ and 27″ UltraSharp monitors that also use the InfinityEdge ultrathin bezel.
