Remember Radio Shack in the good old days? Remember when they had every component you could ever imagine or need for a project? Now, snapping back to the present day, Radio Shack has a lot of components. They don’t have everything you want any more and they’re going to try to sell you a cell phone plan with every trip to the cash register. To replace the brick-and-mortar disappointment that Radio Shack has become, an online store StarTech has proven itself vastly superior in most ways. I’ve been a fan of them for a while now ever since they had some wonky cable that I needed to connect one device to another.
What makes them worth posting about today is a feature they recently added to their site called the ConXit Connection Wizard, or ConXit Wizard in brief.
The ConXit Wizard simply allows you to find the cable that you need. First you select one connection to be made, let’s say it’s a VGA connection. You then select the second connection from a second list that is dynamically generated as being compatible with your first choice, such as RCA component cables for this example. With those two choices, you click the Find It! button and you’ll get a page of results for things that might work for your cause. It really filters down the wide variety of inventory that StarTech offers to what you’re looking for.
StarTech is also the manufacturer of many of these cables and components. If you do find the component you need, click on some of the resellers (right below the listed price) as they may have a much cheaper price than on the StarTech website.
