(8:52AM) Ok folks, we got our technical issues resolved and were finally able to get connected to the WiFi. We’ll be live blogging the announcement of FoxTrot’s newest jPAD 3.
(8:57AM) It looks like I’m the only one in this “auditorium” looking forward to the announcement. There is a a girl busily texting and a couple playing chess. Let’s give you a look and test that our picture uploads are working.
(9:00AM) We should be starting any minute now…
(9:02AM) The lights are dimming and a video is playing. The video has a bunch of people talking about how the jPAD 2 changed their lives and their industries.
(9:04AM) Ok, the lights are coming back up.
(9:05AM) Jason Fox has taken the stage. The late Steve Jobs may have had his iconic black turtleneck but Jason Fox shows up everywhere in his blue t-shirt and that’s true today.
(9:06AM) Mr. Fox is jumping right to it saying he doesn’t want to hold anybody in suspense any longer. (I still seem to be the only one paying attention.)
(9:10AM) Jason is talking about how they have engineered the jPAD 3. It’s all manufactured right here in the USA. It’s also environmentally friendly, being made from 100% recycled cardboard.
(9:12AM) Some more tech specs: The jPAD 3 has a zero inch screen, giving it a theoretical pixel density of infinity (dividing by zero, and all that).
(9:15AM) A quick video just played giving us an up close view of the jPAD 3 and its new features. One thing that has had the tech blogs talking for weeks has been the rumored bump on the back. Now we finally know! It’s… a rock.
(9:20AM) Jason is back on the stage talking about the “social” features of the jPAD 3. Using the pencil with eraser accessory (sold separately), you can get unlimited multiplayer games like tic-tac-toe, hangman, or others.
(9:21AM) How much will a jPAD 3 set you back? It’s priced at “a crazy low $49”.
(9:22AM) Jason Fox just said “In a head-to-head matchup, the jPAD would literally smash the iPad.” You can take that one to the bank folks.
(9:25AM) And… that’s the press event. Things are wrapping up here and… there is an iguana crawling on my laptop’s power brick.
