Download the Latest Adobe Flash for Firefox and IE Without Any Extras

Previously I’ve provided a (fairly obvious) method of how to download the installers for the latest version of Adobe Flash for Internet Explorer and for Mozilla Firefox without having to install the Adobe Download Manager, GetPlus, GetPlus+, or whatever other name they’re calling that junk. Since then Adobe’s updated their site and the work-around is no longer an option. Therefore, here are the direct links to get the latest Adobe Flash installer executables.

You can visit http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ in Google Chrome or Opera to get Flash for plugin-based browsers (Chrome, Opera, Firefox, pretty much anything but Internet Explorer).

For Internet Explorer, download the ActiveX installer: http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe

For the plugin-based browsers, here’s the direct link.: http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe

If you would like the installers as .msi files, you have to apply for Adobe’s license to distribute Adobe Flash Player (yes, even as a System Administrator to deploy the add-on to the computers within your network). I can’t share the location of where to download those files as part of the agreement with that license.

Personally, I think it’s time somebody told Adobe to stop trying to bloat the software unnecessarily. I also think Mozilla should tell Adobe to back off from ruining the Firefox user experience.

“Go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and turn off the “free” McAfee scan, agree to their junk/Install Now; Firefox blocks the download, click in the link where it says, “If it does not start, click here for troubleshooting information,” scroll to the bottom of the page.”

The only link I see there is back to the first page, I see no direct links?

Meanwhile I’ll use the unofficial method ;)

Not sure if the above links are always updated to the latest version of Flash player? It was apparently updated today but the regular Adobe link no longer has the \If it does not start…\ link. #&%! Adobe Nazis!

Yes, I found out, after some investigation. :) I had my FFx extension updates turned off and just now discovered the out-of-date Flash plugin. After hunting around 10.1.82.76 (10.1 r82) is the latest version. Thanks for the great post and current links.
