Adobe Creative Cloud Packager error: Maximum file path name exceeded

When trying to build packages for Adobe's Creative Cloud apps that updated last week, I ran into an error with the 32-bit versions of InCopy CC (2014) and InDesign CC (2014). The package build would stop and give a little hazard yellow warning triangle that said "Maximum file path name exceeded". I was able to build packages for some individual apps, both 32-bit and 64-bit, … [Read more...]

With icon position being a per-user setting, I knew I could … [Read more...]

A script to clear cached Group Policies

I ran in to an instance last week where Group Policy was coming into question - specifically, why a computer wasn't receiving new or updated policies. The problem ended up being related to Deep Freeze not thawing correctly and stuck group policies being the symptom, not the problem. Despite the innocence of the GPO, I cobbled together a quick script to purge all of the … [Read more...]

Tiles for Office products are blank on Windows 8.1

My Start screen recently became less descriptive when several tiles went mysteriously blank. With a little memory recall, the blank tiles all seemed to be Office 2013 products on Windows 8.1. For some reason, Publisher 2013 retained its icons but the others - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and OneDrive - all went blank with just the background of their colored tile to hold … [Read more...]
