G4 – TV for Gamers, was a TV channel created in 2002 to capitalize on the growing gamer community. Unfortunately, it died a slow, painful death and alienated its audience as time went on. As its focus shifted further from games or even technology after absorbing the channel Tech TV, its audience and sponsors drifted further away.
Ironically, streaming games like Minecraft, esport tournaments, and YouTube channels and content dedicated to gaming have found their audience and prove that there was enough of a draw out there, but it required leaving the traditional TV format.
