This simple Venn Diagram comic by XKCD has some surprising depth to it. There is no overlap at all? At first glance, it seems that people just seem to suspect every computer problem is a virus. Nobody is ever correct in their assumption? Is the artist making a distinction between “a virus” and malware? I certainly see plenty of problems caused by malware several times a week. I also hear the “maybe it has a virus” guess as soon as the first symptom of a problem is recognized quite regularly.
Is there something deeper? People guess that a generic problem is caused by a virus but deny it when it actually is?
Have I over-analyzed it? What are your thoughts on the matter?
