Windows BUILD Event Gives A Look At Windows Server 8

While the Windows 8 operating system for desktops and tablets was the star of the show on the first day, yesterday and today Windows 8 Server is getting some attention.

The Server 8 keynote is available on the BUILD homepage until it is replaced with today’s webcast. 24-48 hours after the keynote, it should be available again for watching with everything else on the Build Press page. In addition, you can read through the press release Microsoft provided of day two events covering Visual Studio, Windows Server 8, and the Azure platform.

The Microsoft Server and Cloud Platform Blog gives a nice summary in its Windows Server 8: An Introduction blog article. More posts are promised in the coming weeks and months on the various topics surrounding the Server platform, so this will be an area to follow.

The Microsoft Server and Cloud Platform site says the Windows Server 8 Developer Preview is available on MSDN to MSDN subscribers.

While BUILD is for developers, a few sessions could be of interest to IT Pros and Datacenter managers:

Beyond all this, ZDNet has a good write-up of some of the new features and changes.
