Mozilla Gets Firefox 3.6.2 Out the Door Early

Mozilla has released Firefox 3.6.2 a full week ahead of schedule. The development and release of this latest version was accelerated to address a highly critical vulnerability that could allow remote execution of code which Mozilla has been providing updates on through their security blog. Due to this vulnerability, a department of the German government had just advised its citizens to avoid using Firefox.

The announcement of its early release was made on the Mozilla security blog as well as through the Mozilla Developer Center.

As a result of the critical nature of these bugs, it is highly encouraged that all Firefox users update their browser as soon as possible. You can get version 3.6.2 by downloading it from Mozilla’s site or if you already have it installed, go to the Help menu, and click ‘Check for updates…’. You may have to run the Update checker more than once if you are a few versions behind.
