AV-Test announces 2016 Endpoint Protection awards; Gartner updates antivirus Magic Quadrant

AV-Test, an independent institute that evaluates antivirus products, has awarded their 2016 best product awards. Fifteen awards were presented across different categories such as Protection, Performance, Usability, Repair, and Android Security. The awards are based on the laboratory tests performed on the products throughout 2016.

AV-Test Best Protection 2016 Award

The AV-TEST BEST PROTECTION 2016 AWARD goes to the winner in the category of protection against malware.

Consumer Users: Norton by Symantec
Corporate Users: F-Secure, Kaspersky Endpoint Security, Kaspersky Small Office Security, Symantec Endpoint Protection

Symantec issued a press release to claim their title for Norton and Symantec.

AV-Test Best Performance 2016 Award

Each test examines which product has the least negative influence on the speed of a Windows PC.

In the category of usability (influence on user-friendliness), the laboratory examines whether the products unsettle the user with false positives or wrongly block harmless websites.

Gartner Magic Quadrant

With the end of January, Gartner released their Magic Quadrant for endpoint protection. The Magic Quadrant places vendors in their determined region as Challengers, Leaders, Niche Players, and Visionaries.

CrowdStrike issued a press release to claim their title of “Visionary” and Carbon Black did the same. Others listed in the Magic Quadrant include common names like Microsoft, Sophos, Symantec, Trend Micro, Kaspersky, and many more.
