Microsoft announces Windows 10 Anniversary Update arriving August 2nd

Microsoft has given an official release date for Windows 10 Anniversary Update. It’s coming August 2nd and it will be free to all computers currently running Windows 10.

Anniversary Update is the next milestone release of the Windows 10 operating system. It is the second major update with v1511 being the first last November. Microsoft had previously estimated two major updates a year but it looks like they might be on track for one update each year. Given some of the negativity that they have gained for the aggressive push of the free Windows 10 update, a slower pace might be welcome. The free offer to upgrade from Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1 will expire on July 29th.
