Log Wizard, a tool to enable log analysis on Windows

Log Wizard is a powerful tool to process through logs on Windows. If you are having to try to track down a problem, Log Wizard can help make the logs much more manageable.

The program has many features and can open logs and view them in real-time without locking them for further writing. You can apply views to filter logs to certain attributes, color code those filters, and switch back and forth between the filtered view and the full log in case you need context for an entry. Log Wizard also has search, the ability to copy one or several lines, find with regular expression support, and more features.

The source for Log Wizard is available from GitHub while I compiled setup file is available for download from Code Project. I wish it were available as a portable application and did not require the installation but it’s a small price to pay and not that big of a deal with the ability to read logs from remote computers.

A log is loaded by dragging and dropping it to the program. Alternatively, you can use the Open Log dialog under the Actions menu to open a log on the local computer or remotely. You can also use the Open Log dialog to pick common logs like the Windows Event Log easily.
