CableLabs unveiled a new project to extend DOCSIS 3.1 technology to make cable bandwidth symmetrical. Common today, your Internet connection speed from your cable provider might allow anywhere from 3 to 100 Mbps, or even gigabit with DOCSIS 3.1 download but only 1 to 5 Mbps upload. This video from CableLabs explains that they are working on symmetrical connections to allow the same speed for upload as download.
