ASUS launches their version of the Google OnHub wireless router

In mid-August, Google and TP-LINK announced a new wireless router called the OnHub. It was also stated that ASUS would be manufacturing an iteration of the OnHub as well. Yesterday, Google and ASUS announced that their OnHub is available for pre-order.

The idea behind the OnHub router is to improve your Wi-Fi reliability and make the infrastructure more user-friendly. Blinking lights are replaced with an app that can tell you what is going on with the device. The OnHub also uses a variety of antennas to provide service to different devices with intelligence that allows it to allocate power according to where the devices are being used. OnHub routers are also designed with the thought of updating the firmware to add new features and functionality over time.

The ASUS OnHub allows you to wave your hand over the router in order to boost the wifi signal to a device in a feature called Wave Control.

The ASUS OnHub will cost $219.99 and is available for pre-order in Slate Gray. The OnHub routers are available through the Google Store, and various retailers such as Best Buy, Wal-Mart, NewEgg, and others.
