With the VW emissions test cheating scandal in the news so much lately, my mind can’t help but go to the original master of cheat codes: the Game Genie.
Kids of the 90s may remember the Game Genie as the easy way to beat Nintendo and Sega games or unlock new functionality. Apparently, Volkswagen remembered as well and used it to cheat their way past environmental controls with “clean” diesel cars.
