Forekast, to always know what is going on

I run a Tech Events Calendar here at 404 Tech Support to share the big conferences, release dates, and other technology events. Building on a similar concept, the website Forekast is building an even bigger calendar and a community surrounding it.

Forekast dubs itself the “Crowdsourced Calendar of the Internet.” To unpack that a little bit, the site serves as a calendar to which anybody can submit events. Along with the date and time, the event is also titled and categorized. The categories then allow people to focus their calendar browsing or, with an account, choose to only view calendars of certain categories called ‘Subkasts’. The different Subkasts include:

The community can then see submitted events and vote up those that they are excited about or post comments to discuss with others. With each listing, you can add the event to your calendar through an iCal file or Google Calendar link. You can also request that the site send an email reminder to you, 15 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours, or 1 day before the events scheduled time.

I think Forekast is a neat concept with potential if the community develops around it. Check it out at forekast.com.
