Microsoft offers preview of new Remote Desktop universal app for Windows 10

Microsoft has a preview of the new universal app to offer Remote Desktop client connections on the Windows Store. Being a universal app, it works on mobile devices, PCs (with Windows 10), the Surface Hub, HoloLens, Xbox, and other Windows devices. The Remote Desktop app uses RemoteFX and Remote Desktop Protocol to allow connections across multiple platforms.

You can install the app on Windows 10 from the Windows Store.

The app certainly has a facelift compared to the tried and true mstsc.exe. It offers saving desktop connections similar to RDCMan (Remote Desktop Connection Manager) to provide quick connections to servers and desktops you access frequently.

While the app is still in the Preview state, it is currently showing some limitations and the reviews are providing the feedback.

Microsoft Remote Desktop app is designed to help you get your work done wherever you are. You can connect to remote PCs and be productive as if these resources were running locally.
