Windows 10 will work with your smartphone, Cortana coming to Android and iPhone

In Microsoft’s latest announcement about Windows 10, they focused on interacting with smartphones. A phone companion app on Windows 10 will allow better recognition between Windows Phone, Android, and iPhone/iPad. In addition to your computer working with your phone, Microsoft’s digital personal assistant, Cortana, will be coming to Android and iOS. Move over Siri and Google Now!

The Phone Companion app will allow you to connect to Android or an iOS device and, of course, a Windows Phone. The Windows Phone won’t require anything additional but the Android and iOS devices can interact with your computer through Microsoft apps.

You can use Cortana, OneDrive, OneNote, Skype, Office, Outlook, and Music to interact with your mobile device.

The Cortana app will allow you similar functionality as a Windows Phone device such as performing searches by asking questions, setting reminders, or tracking other events. Since Cortana is an app and not as integrated into the device, it will have some limitations such as interacting with the device and changing settings or listening for the “Hey, Cortana” hands-free invoke command.
