University of Illinois turns to students to design 404 error page

The University of Illinois is looking to redesign the 404 error page of their website.

A “404 Page Not Found” is the webpage that displays when a user follows a dead or broken link. The 404 page’s purpose is to notify the user that they’ve landed on the wrong page, and to help direct them to the right one by either using a search bar or going back to the homepage.

To find their next 404 page, they are turning to their Urbana-Champaign undergraduate and graduate students. They are looking for something funny, clean, and interactive with an Illinois tie.

Since it’s a contest, there are also prizes. The winner will receive their choice of a framed, high-quality print of the winning design or 404 packages of Ramen noodles or 404 inches of bubble wrap.

The deadline is 10pm on March 30th, 2015. You can find the rest of the details on the Illinois.edu blog.
