YouTube Kids app brings safe videos to little ones

YouTube introduced a new app for Android and iOS devices specifically built from the ground up for kids. The app provides safe video content for kids in a layout that is easy to navigate and browse.

YouTube’s approach for the new app included a new design with large images and icons. It also offers built-in voice search to even help kids who can’t spell or type find the entertaining videos they are looking for.

The content is limited to content approved for kids in the categories of shows, music, learning, and explore.

Along with favorites from DreamWorks TV, Jim Henson TV, Mother Goose Club, Talking Tom and Friends and more, your kids can watch new series from YouTube channels they already like. Discover new facts about dinosaurs from National Geographic Kids; learn about technology from Reading Rainbow; or watch Thomas the Tank Engine leave the world of Sodor for the first time in 70 years to travel the globe. Plus, more new videos are coming soon from beloved YouTubers like the Vlogbrothers and Stampylonghead.

Lastly, YouTube Kids provides parental controls including a timer to limit screen time, sound settings to turn off background music and sound effects, the ability to turn off search, and a feedback form.

YouTube Kids is free in the US on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
