What a world when two free-to-play apps can afford Super Bowl commercial spots

According to The Wall Street Journal, a basic, 30-second ad for Super Bowl XLIX costs a whopping $4.5 million. What a world we live in when two different free-to-play mobile games are able to afford Super Bowl commercials. This comes on top of the regular advertising the apps have had during regular season NFL games. The two games advertising in these premium slots are Game of  War featuring Kate Upton and Clash of Clans featuring Liam Neeson.

As you may recall, those two games were number 3 and number 1, respectively, Apple’s top grossing apps of 2014. Not bad for free games (with in-app purchases).

Game of War – Fire Age is available on iOS and Android
