ManageEngine goes freemium with ServiceDesk Plus help desk ticketing software

Last week, ManageEngine announced that they were now offering their help desk software called ServiceDesk Plus completely free with no restrictions. It used to be free for two technicians or as a trial for up to five technicians. Now, the software in the Standard tier is free without limitations.

Much of their website still conveys the old information but the comparison page explains the standard tier features which are now available as free. I would consider this a freemium model since they are hoping you will upgrade for certain features such as asset management, project management, and change management modules in their professional and enterprise tiers.

You can learn about the completely free without limits help desk software on the announcement page.

To use the software, it’s a matter of installing it on Windows or Linux with PostGreSQL, MySQL, or MS SQL server. You can request a free license by filling out the license request form on the announcement page. Once installed, you can configure the ticketing system to match your environment. I’ve been setting up a demo unit to check out the software and so far have been impressed. It’s a lot of work to configure it from scratch but reassuring that you have so many options to make the system work like you want it to.

I often hear ManageEngine recommended whenever the topic of ticketing systems comes up and now the price is right to justify checking it out. For more information about the software, see the ServiceDesk Plus free announcement page.
