Microsoft Office 2013 Service Pack 1 released

Microsoft Office 2013 SP1, Exchange Server 2013 SP1, and SharePoint 2013 SP1 were released today. Office 2013 SP1 includes over 200 fixes according to the change list (.xlsx). Microsoft’s announcement of the update links to the other products updated today including Office 2013, Project 2013, Visio 2013, SharePoint Designer 2013, SharePoint Server, Project Server, Office Web Apps Server 2013, and other desktop and server products.

Service Pack 1 for Microsoft Office 2013 32-Bit Edition contains new updates which improve security, performance, and stability. Additionally, the SP is a roll-up of all previously released updates.

You can learn more about KB2817430 from its KB articleService Pack 1 for 32-bit Office 2013 is a 644MB download from the Microsoft Download Center. Office 365 will update to include these fixes automatically in the regular updates. SP1 is available through Microsoft Update and WSUS and will become an automatic update through after a 30-day period.

In the Programs and Features list under Control Panel, Office 2013 will be version 15.0.4569.1506 or higher if SP1 is installed.

To include the updates automatically with an existing installation, download SP1 and extract it with something like 7-Zip. Copy the .msp files to the updates folder of your Office 2013 install source. The updates will now be included with the install.

The Office 2013 Administrative Template Files and Office Customization Tool were also updated today. They can be acquired through a separate download.
