Today is Energy Star Day!

Energy Star is a standard for efficient appliances. It was started in the United States by the EPA but has since grown to have an international influence. Energy Star appliances are above and beyond the federal requirements for energy efficiency, saving energy and saving you money. The Energy Star label also saves you time when shopping. The Energy Star information can help tell you an estimated annual cost and make it easier to compare between two products that might look the exact same on the outside.

Today is Energy Star Day with a new campaign starting. “Do 1 Thing Energy Star” is intended to make it simple to save energy. Instead of looking at the whole system, start simple and make changes 1 thing at a time that will reduce your electricity consumption and save you money.

Replace incandescent light bulbs when they need replaced with LEDs. Replace your HVAC air filter seasonally. Have your heating ductwork inspected. Seal and insulate your home in preparation for the coming winter. From the Energy Star EPA blog, Energy Star will be posting a Do 1 Thing Energy Star tip of the week to their Facebook page and Twitter account.

Speaking of Twitter, for Energy Star Day the organization will be holding a “Twitter Party” at 2 pm ET today with #Do1ThingENERGYSTAR
