Intel mimics Game of Thrones to tease 4th Gen Intel Core

Using Twitter, Intel teased the 4th generation of the Intel Core processors were coming this Summer. In a way that imitated the NY Times ad for Game of Thrones, the Intel ad tells us to hold on until this Summer. Ivy Bridge is the code name for the current 3rd generation CPU microarchitecture and it will be succeeded by code name Haswell.

The tweet was posted yesterday with the hashtag to #JoinTheRealm. In addition “4th Gen Intel Core is Coming” is a parody of the Game of Thrones House Stark expression “Winter is Coming”.

That wasn’t the only Game of Thrones related tweet from Intel as tonight after the premiere, @Intel tweeted “Arriving at King’s Landing, here to claim the throne for House Intel.”

Based on leaked information, the 4th generation Intel Core processors are expected to launch June 2013 while official information only gives us ‘Summer 2013’. The Wikipedia page for Haswell summarizes the rumors well but we will have to wait for more official confirmation to know for sure.
