Jumpshot project on Kickstarter seeks to cure Persistent Tech Support Disease

A new project on Kickstarter should sound very intriguing to those of us who get frequent tech support calls from our friends, relatives, and acquaintances. It seeks to make managing, fixing, and optimizing Windows computers easier. You simply plug in a bootable USB stick and run Jumpshot. It will temporarily change the Windows bootloader to boot from the USB stick instead of the hard drive so you don’t even have to worry about catching the Boot Menu in your BIOS. Jumpshot then runs live as a Linux environment to work on your PC while it is down – allowing it to clean and optimize better than if Windows processes are running or rootkits are trying to hide.

Jumpshot features a variety of tools to make the most of your computer while using a simplified interface to make the repair task far less daunting. The goal seems to be simplifying the process while empowering everyday users.

Jumpshot is perfect for a variety of situations:

  • You purchase a brand new Windows computer and want to get rid of the annoying pre-packaged junk software that came with it.
  • Your Anti-Virus has failed to remove a virus and nothing seems to be able to get rid of it.
  • Your PC performs sluggishly in comparison to friends and co-workers with similar computers.
  • You want some insights on the health of your computer hardware and network connectivity.
  • You’re a savvy technogeek who gets called by friends and family with PC problems and need something simple to empower Grammie with.
  • You crave an adorable USB memory stick.

Hopefully, it will result in a lot less calls to the tech-savvy friends as people are able to take care of their problems themselves. There are also more ideas planned down the road. By using Internet connectivity to make sure Jumpshot is always running the latest version, new features can easily be added.
