Avast! made me do a double-take this morning on my PC and now DrawSomething made me do a double-take on my phone. The popular pictionary-like game for smartphones, recently acquired by Zynga, sent out a notification through the game that only showed ‘OCTOMOM’ ‘BABYMAMA’ and ‘TEENMOM’ before getting truncated on my phone. It looked exactly like the message I see when somebody has sent me a new drawing, so I thought it odd that 3 very similar names would all choose me for random games. Upon launching DrawSomething, I didn’t see any new games. I got more suspicious when I heard from others that they had also seen the notification. It turns out there is more to it that was getting truncated on certain Android phones.
As it turns out, DrawSomething added ‘TEENMOM’, ‘BABYMAMA’, and ‘OCTOMOM’ as new words to DrawSomething and Draw Free to “celebrate Mother’s Day”.
Not the greatest terms to celebrate , in my opinion, but satisfying to find out the rest of the message so the notification makes sense.
