It’s March 1st today and one of the things happening today is the updated Privacy Policy across 60 Google products. While the initial reaction was strongly negative, Google clarified its changes and stood their ground. By unifying their Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, they are able to use their information about you in various products to create a more customized, individual experience and better targeted ads.
As Google posted to the Official Google Blog late last night, they want to highlight a few bullet points:
- The Privacy Policy is now easier to understand by unifying it across many products and data being collected is in plain language.
- The new Privacy Policy will allow “a better, more intuitive” user experience for signed-in users.
- The Privacy controls aren’t changing.
Most importantly, nothing changed over night. The changes will take effect gradually, so don’t expect the world to be different this morning.
You can use the Privacy Tools to control your information as we head into Google’s future.
