Nissan Embraces Google Maps for Its Latest Contest

Nissan wants you to plot out an interesting road trip using Google Maps. If your trip is interesting enough and you win, they’ll make your virtual road trip into a reality with a new Nissan Versa and all the expenses paid for.

If you win, you and three friends will go on an all expense paid (lodging, food, and gas) road trip. All you have to do is go on www.myversaroadtrip.com and plan your own virtual road trip by selecting a point-to-point route, assign a soundtrack, and describe your trip in 104 letters or less. Partnered with Google Maps, your road trip will be turned into a flythrough-film that simulates the experience in a Nissan Versa. Based on these films, Nissan will choose participants to go on their customized road trips.

You can view others’ road trips and see where they want to go. It includes a fly-by view of the drive…

and a Street View panorama of your stops.

To plot your own, you just enter your destinations, give it a title and description, and pick a soundtrack to drive along to.

You can check it out at http://www.myversaroadtrip.com/

It’s a nice use of technology to easily compare a bunch of different road trips for the judges. With enough entries, it might also show where most people are interested in going for their destinations.

Good luck!
