Google Aims To Promote Gmail With Its New Email Intervention Program

Google is in a new round of trying to increase the number of Gmail customers. It’s advertising it before you sign into your Gmail and on the side of your inbox. They make it sound like they’re helping you switch people to Gmail when it’s clearly the other way around.

This campaign is headlined as an ‘Email Intervention’. You can head over to www.emailintervention.com for all the “resources” you need to convert your friends and family to Gmail. This provides you with a template to send your friends spam to switch e-mail providers. Unfortunately, it only allows 20-character long e-mail addresses, so I couldn’t send it to many of my contacts.

Gmail really helped innovate e-mail when it first joined by increasing the amount of storage available back in the day but now the big providers have caught up Gmail storage has been increasing at a slower pace. Besides phone calls and video chat, has Gmail been innovating enough to convince people that haven’t moved over yet that now is the time?
