The First Free Amazon Student Memberships Expiring Soon

Amazon has started sending out e-mails to members of its Amazon Students program, which provides a free year of Amazon Prime membership and benefits, that the year is almost up for those that signed up when the program was first announced. I don’t recall it being clear upon signing up whether you would be able to renew after the year ends if you were still a student or if it was a one-time thing. From what I’m reading now, it seems the Amazon Student program is a one-time shot at a free year of Amazon Prime and mine expires August 1st.

Now that you’ve been hooked on the free two-day shipping benefit, Amazon is hoping you’ll continue paying for Amazon Prime membership. To sweeten the deal, they are offering a 50% discount to expiring Amazon Students so you can become an Amazon Prime member at $39 per year. In addition to the lower rate, you’ll also get the benefit of Amazon Instant Streaming which was introduced in February for all Prime memberships except the free programs like Amazon Student and Amazon Mom.

If you’re a college student and you haven’t taken advantage of the offer yet, you can sign up here with a .edu e-mail address. If your Amazon Student membership is expiring soon, do you think you’ll renew with the discounted Amazon Prime deal?
