Spotify Is Coming To The US – Is It Too Little, Too Late?

Thanks to music licensing deals, Spotify, a music streaming site, has been exclusive to Europe since its launch in 2008. I remember hearing great things about it and wishing it was available in the USA. That time is now upon us and Spotify is coming to the US in the coming months.

Pandora Internet Radio has been around since  2005 and became US exclusive due to increased fees. Many of the benefits of Spotify were made in comparison to Pandora. I remember wish I could access Spotify years ago but I don’t feel that compelled any more. Now, there seems to be plenty of competitors. Is Spotify jumping into a too crowded pool?

They all have different options and functionality like music storage versus music streaming, iPhone or Android smartphone compatible, ads versus paid subscription. Is Spotify offering a combination of features that aren’t currently available or did they miss their chance to take the US by storm? We’ll have to wait for more information from Spotify in order to know pricing and further details but competition is good for the consumer so perhaps the industry will create some distinguishing innovations for various services or better prices.
