Google Body Browser

We first saw the Google Body Browser earlier this month at the Google Chrome event that I covered in detail. Seeing how it’s been a Google Hot Trend lately and a high number of folks are landing on my site searching for it, it probably warrants its own article. The Body Browser is hosted over at Google Labs and allows you to explore the human body at different layers like flesh, muscle, and bone.

The Google Body Browser allows you to zoom in and peel away layers of a 3D model as you learn about the human body through the use of WebGL. You can click on a part to have it identified while rotating the body around to get a better view. Apparently Google is revolutionizing learning anatomy like the other areas they changed with Google Earth and Google Sky Map.

You can check out the Body Browser for yourself through the video below or by visiting  http://bodybrowser.googlelabs.com/ in a WebGL-enabled browser. The Firefox 4.0 beta, Safari on Mac OS X 10.6, and the Google Chrome beta should all work. Check out Khronos for more details.

In addition to the Body Browser, there were two other examples of WebGL apps shown off at the Google Chrome event: The WebGL Aquarium and the Earthquake Visualization.
