Google Launches Site Called Demo Slam To Make Tech Demos Cool

Google introduced, from The Official Google Blog today, a new website from its Creative Lab called Google Demo Slam. The site is supposed to make tech demos entertaining and exciting, grabbing people’s attention by adding a competitive element.

Demo Slam features two videos going head to head. Each video shows off a technology in a creative and entertaining way. Visitors then give the video that they think is better a thumbs up. The winner moves on, perhaps to the Slam of the week and maybe even the Champs.

The site uses Adobe Flash heavily and embedded YouTube videos for the contestants. Today’s slams were pretty cool with a group of guys trying to mimic Mount Rushmore close enough that Google Goggles would believe it was the real thing competing against some boys playing the game Chubby Bunny using Google Voice Search to officiate.

I thought the Mount Rushmore video was the more creative and impressive of the two videos so it earned my vote but using Google Voice Search to officiate Chubby Bunny is actually a pretty good way of making that game more fair. I thought people stopped playing that game anyways because a bunch of kids choked on the marshmallows?
