PDFVoid – Don’t Send a Malicious PDF

PDFVoid is a web service developed by the same folks behind NoVirusThanks that allows you to scan a PDF for any malicious code or exploits. You can upload a PDF (up to 1MB in size) or submit a URL that points to a PDF to have it scanned to see whether the file is clean or suspicious. The scan only takes a few seconds to completed. If the file is clean, it will be deleted but if the file is suspicious it might be held onto for further analysis.

A SHA1 and MD5 hash of each file submitted is kept for comparison and you can search by MD5 hash. You also might find the statistics interesting. So far the service, in two weeks of operation, has scanned 117 files. Of those 117, 50 were found clean and 67 were found to be infected. Might I recommend you update Adobe Reader?

Keep PDFVoid in mind if you’d like peace of mind when sending or receiving PDF files.
