Mini-Golf to Advertise Your Site

I’m having trouble recalling an episode of a TV show, perhaps Simpsons or Futurama, where the main joke of a scene was that advertisers realized what valuable real estate the tongue was and they started putting ads on people’s tongues. If I had been able to remember that show (or you tell me in the comments) and embed a clip (assuming it actually exists), it would have been the perfect lead-in to today’s article. Instead, here’s the closest I could find from Futurama:

A company by the odd name of Damp Gnat is offering a free, 5-hole, Flash-based mini-golf game that you can re-brand to have your logo around the course. You can engage visitors, get them to stay longer, and maybe even tell their friends to check out your site. Damp Gnat also has a larger version available for hole sponsoring.

To host Micro Putt on your site, you can follow their FAQ that they provide.

Put simply, the steps include:

  1. Download the .swf file
  2. Download and customize the text template
  3. Download and customize the background template
  4. Upload everything in a folder to your server
  5. Embed it on a webpage

You can customize the background image to include your logo and you can change the text that pops up at each hole’s completion to be a link to different pages around your site.

When all is said and done, the Micro Putt course looks a bit like this:

The larger version, called Adverputt, is a 12-hole course that is more complicated. This larger version will allow hole sponsorship soon so you can put in a bid for the month and have your logo and a link to your site. You can see it and play it at: www.adverputt.com
