Now Hosted by WiredTree

I recently changed hosting companies and I hope you’re able to tell the difference. I certainly can and I’m pleased with spending my money now with a host that doesn’t have downtime every other day. The downtime and general instability was the primary issue that caused me to switch companies, but there were other benefits to switching to WiredTree as well.

One of the most obvious benefits for me in moving from MediaTemple, based in California, and moving to WiredTree was that WiredTree’s datacenter is located in Chicago. Since I’m located in Illinois and upload the most data to the server, shortening the path for me sped things up quite a bit. Another perk of using WiredTree’s Chicago-based datacenter is that Chicago is just about the center of the US and connected to the backbones of the Internet. As most of my traffic (but not exclusively) comes from the US/Canada, having a central location is better for everybody. WiredTree’s network is made from partners with some of the top bandwidth providers to reliably deliver content quickly around the globe. WiredTree uses Level(3) Communications, Global Crossing, NTT Communications, and Savvis networks.

I don’t want to just have baseless complaints about my previous host in comparison to WiredTree but there is a night and day difference. So, here are the numbers:

I gathered these numbers using 100pulse’s service that I wrote about before with Website Uptime Monitoring Services. Both the response time and amount of downtime are ridiculously higher than with WiredTree. I left with about 4 months of service still credited to me, if that’s any indication as to the frustration it caused. To be fair to MediaTemple, I moved from a lower-grade offering to a higher one, but the problem wasn’t with the server. There were problems with the infrastructure and even hassles of entire servers possibly exploited.

WiredTree offers Virtual Servers, Dedicated Servers, and Hybrid Servers at the best rate I could find. I’m currently using the virtual server at an affordable $50/month, the greatest value I could find online with plenty of room to upgrade including a la carte upgrades that allow your budget to be spent where it can to get the best hosting package I’ve seen and full control.

If you’re in the market for hosting, there’s nothing better I can recommend for lots of bang for the buck than WiredTree. Check it out and support 404 Tech Support by purchasing from this affiliate link: http://www.wiredtree.com/affiliate/idevaffiliate.php?id=282&url=16
