That's true, mostly gaming is negatively affected by Hyper-V. You would normally not see the two (gaming and Hyper-V) on the same box, but there is definitely still a league of individuals following the Server 2008 as a workstation ideas. Hyper-V also seems to take the approach of making virtualization more accessible, so we might see more overlap between the two. Hyper-V does also slow down the startup and shutdown times as the Hyper-V services is started and stopped respectively, which is irregardless of gaming. I use Server 08 as my primary OS at home and game on it regularly, now that Hyper-V is uninstalled. Hyper-V might work well for others, but I had to find another solution. I’d say it bears emphasizing that the issue is gaming on a server OS. Since Hyper-V is intended for headless server-room boxes, I’m not surprised.

As a little side note, if you experience MASSIVE performance drops in your games, it’s because at this point Hyper-V doesn’t play nicely with high end graphics cards. There is no fix I’m aware of at this point in time. ^_^
